my story

est. 2020

April 2021

The Start

- It all started with a shirt I made myself in my highschool screenprinting class, an elective I only took to be with my best friend and fufill my graduation requirements 🙈

- 0 followers, no social presence, and definetely $0 in the bank

- My keys to success? a janky <$15 iphone tripod and an open window for natural lighting

August 2012

My 1st year at college

- Major: Cognitive Science

- Minor(s): Real Estate Finance & Applied Analytics

- Premed: For now

- Missing: Creative outlets (and a car)

September 2022

The Orgins of Lab Kitah

- Inspired by the slang phrase for "I love you" in tagolog (hi fellow Filipinos:))

- I absolutely loved this dress but made one critical mistake. I left the size grading up to my manufacturer. Any size above a S did not fit correctly.

- While I was completely floored by the amount of support I got from friends, family, and strangers...I couldn't faithfully promote the product, so we quickly went offline

October 2022

Lab Kitah v2

- Tried the whole online boutique thing

- Did not like having my brand be determined by the quality of clothing other people made

- Quickly exited

March 2024

Lab Kitah v3

- I was still selling on Depop so decided to try to sell the same stuff on my own domain (bypass the fees, genius right?)

- I got a foam board from Home Depot, covered it in poster paper, and nailed it to the wall to use as a background 🙈 my mom was not happy

- Turns out not having to pay for views and having already motivated buyers on Depop actually maybe outweighs the fees...

August 2024

Lab Kitah v4

- Finally bought a car (thank you Depop & internships) so I started doing in-person markets!!!!

- This was honestly so much fun and I really enjoyed it but it is super competitive where I live so the acceptance rate was not very consistent and the physical labor was alot (I always had to have my family help)

Present

Lab Kitah vF

- Believe it or not throughout this entire timeline I was doing Depop, getting through college, serving as President in a club, and doing internships

- Even today, I am pursing Lab Kitah while continuing Depop and working a 9-5 in Commercial Real Estate🫠

- But I wouldn't change me experience for anything. Because of my path, all throughout college and even now, I'm constantly surrounded by dialogue about how hard it is to find cute, functional, and office appropriate clothing for my demographic. I hope Lab Kitah can change that. I want to redefine workwear and introduce our closet to clothes that we want (and can) to wear to work and beyond.

- Im still learning a lot about life, let alone creating a business, but I hope you choose to come on this journey with me.

- Here's to women who work 🥂
